The new beginning

Every year during this season things start to change, the deciduous trees start changing their color of leaves, children start going to school, mothers start scheduling new activities for their loved ones, the commuters face a harsher than usual traffic, and so many other things. Here in St. Paul Church we’re excited to announce number of new things, which are in happening. Here are some new things coming this fall;

1. Aramaic Language Classes: We’re planning to have classes in Aramaic for all ages, children and adult. We encourage all of you to participate in these classes, which will be for beginners and depending on participants’ background, intermediate level will be offered as well. We’re also considering having instructors from both Iran and Iraq, as the dialect is to some extent different. The duration of each class would be about six weeks and the class days (either Saturday or Sunday) would be decided by participants. Please come in and enroll as soon as possible thus to begin the instructions as early as mid October. Please contact Fr. Noel to register

2. Sunday Day Care: Coming to church with small children it has been an issue for some parents. As the kids cannot stay quite during the Holy Mass, parents rather not to come to church or if they come stay outside during the sermon. We’re in process of providing a Day Care during the Holy Mass for children from 2 to 5. First we’re encouraging all of you to come in and bring in your children and take advantage of this opportunity. It is also beneficial for the child, as he or she plays with other kids and becomes physically active. Second, we’re asking your help to donate your time, at least one Sunday in a month to keep it going. Also we’re in need of some toys, children movies, books, coloring books and so forth. Please contact Ms. Janet Moradkhani to obtain more information. She could be reached at (818) 773-8572.

3. Tutoring: In order to improve the academic level of our students in science and math, tutoring session for grade 6 thru 12 are available on Sundays after the Holy Mass. Please contact Mr. Sargon Yadegar at (818) 343-3959 to enroll and obtain the schedule.

4. Church Remodeling: As some of you know in the synod of bishops they agreed on some changes in the liturgy of our Chaldean Catholic rite. Some of the changes deal with the location of icons in the church. Therefore there is going to be some remodeling of the church to, first comply with these changes in liturgy, and second to renovate it after a long time. The committee selected by parish priest are in the process of remodeling and their names are;

Mr. John Golpashin, Mr. George Bakos, Ms. Ann Bakos, Mr. Carlo Orshani, Ms. Mary Abdulla, Mr. Emil Hormozi, Mr. Mahir Barkho, and Mr. Sargon Zoumallan.

5. New Social Activity Committee: Under the guidance of Fr. Noel the new Social Activity Committee has been selected and they have already started their work by preparing for the last picnic of the year on Sunday, Oct. 1st. The names for the new committee are;

Mr. Odisho Moradkhani, Mr. Nardine Mikhaeli, Mr. Carlo Orshani, Mr. Ernest Panoussi, Mr. Jean Claude Hormozi and Ms.Azhar  Neesan. We all wish the best in this Endeavour.

   6. The last, but not the least is the Sunday school for Catechism, First Communion, and Hymns right after Divine Liturgy from 12:15 to 1:15pm.
